A few years ago a particular Salt Lake City disc jocky died. A colleague of this man was DJ-ing at their station on the day he died and he shared with the listening audience that his friend had mentioned to him long ago that the song he would most like to have played at his funeral was "In Dreams" sung by Roy Orbison (of "Oh, Pretty Woman" fame). He then played this beautiful song and it has stuck with me. It is very touching to me. I'm sure he was thinking of his wife.
In Dreams
A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
Go to sleep. everything is all right.
I close my eyes,
then I drift away
Into the magic night.
I softly say a silent prayer
like dreamers do.
Then I fall asleep to dream
my dreams of you.
In dreams I walk with you.
in dreams I talk to you.
In dreams youre mine
all of the time were together
in dreams, in dreams.
But just before the dawn,
I awake and find you gone.
I can't help it,
I can't help it, if I cry.
I remember that you said goodbye.
Its too bad that all these things,
can only happen in my dreams
Only in dreams, in beautiful dreams.
